Adaptive delta modulation for speech synthesis
The three most important factors in choosing a speech output processing method for a particular application are flexibility, bit rate and cost. Flexibility enables the user to change the binary speech patterns according to his needs; bit rate is the amount of binary information necessary to produce a certain length (I s) of continuous speech; and cost includes not only the LSl chip itself, but ...
متن کاملModel-based predictive adaptive delta modulation
This paper presents a new technique in digital communications, called modelbased-predictive adaptive-delta-modulation (MBP-ADM). MBP-ADM uses system identification tools to identify a model of the signal which is used for prediction. The prediction helps the system to respond adaptively to a varying input signal, in order to achieve improved performance. The results show a substantial improveme...
متن کاملAdaptive Sharpening with Overshoot Control
This paper presents the Adaptive Sharpening with Overshoot Control (ASOC), an algorithm for digital image contrast enhancement. The ASOC exploits a properly defined band-pass filter in order to better discriminate the "uniform/not uniform" zones of the input (blurred) image. A more aggressive sharpening is then performed on the textured zones, whilst the homogeneous regions are preserved.
متن کاملAdaptive Sigma–Delta Modulation With One-Bit Quantization
A method for improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of sigma–delta modulators with one-bit quantization is presented. The two-level feedback signal of a standard sigma–delta modulator is replaced by a multilevel signal, which is a superposition of two parts. One part ( ) represents a rough estimate of the instantaneous amplitude of the input signal (prediction signal), and the other ( ) is t...
متن کاملStability Analysis of an Adaptive Structure for Sigma Delta Modulation
In previous work [ 11, we have proposed an adaptive sigma delta modulator with improved dynamic range. The modulator adapts the step-size of the quantizer from estimates of the quantizer input. In this paper, we conduct a stability analysis of the new modulator.
